Jeff Sweet holds Red Seal certifications in two, quite different, trades – as cook and electrician!

He started as a dishwasher in high school and worked his way up to cook. Always being a professional at heart, it was natural for him to apprentice and obtain his journeyperson status in 2002.

He also liked science and to build things, so decided to move into construction. After pre-employment, he apprenticed as an electrician and obtained by journeyperson status in 2006.

Jeff has worked in many sectors of the electrical trade from residential and service work to commercial and industrial work. He last worked on the Co-op Upgrader revamp before accepting his current position as President and Assistant Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 2038 in August 2014.

Nominated to the SATCC Commission Board in July 2015, he is excited to be behind the scenes with the 19 other voices working to ensure apprenticeship continues to succeed and remains adaptable in a changing labour market.
